1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, update your profile, and communicate with other users. This includes your name, email, age, gender, native and learning languages, and location data if enabled.

Cloudpals is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not permit accounts for users under 18. If we learn an account is under 18, we may restrict or terminate the account and take reasonable steps to delete or minimize retained data, subject to legal obligations.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our services, including to match you with compatible language partners and to show you relevant content in The Cloud. We also process information for trust and safety purposes, including detecting, investigating, and preventing abuse and illegal activity, including CSAE risks.

3. Legal Bases for Processing

Where UK GDPR/EU GDPR applies, we process personal data based on one or more legal bases: contract performance, legitimate interests (including platform security and abuse prevention), legal obligations, and consent where required. In the U.S. and other jurisdictions, we process data in line with applicable privacy laws and platform-safety obligations.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. Your profile information is visible to other users of the service as governed by your privacy settings. We may share information with service providers who perform services on our behalf. We may also disclose information to regulators, child-protection organizations, and law enforcement when required by law, lawful process, or to protect a child or other person from imminent harm.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You can access, update, or delete your account information at any time within the app settings. You can also control the visibility of your profile and location in the Visibility settings. Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, restriction, withdrawal of consent, and non-discrimination for privacy-rights requests.

6. Child Safety and Mandatory Reporting

Where legally required, Cloudpals reports apparent child sexual abuse material and related exploitation activity to relevant authorities. For U.S.-nexus reports where required by law, Cloudpals submits reports to NCMEC and preserves associated records for legally required retention periods.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as needed for service delivery, legal compliance, dispute resolution, security, and abuse prevention. Retention periods may be extended where necessary for investigations, legal holds, or child-safety reporting obligations.

8. International Data Transfers

Cloudpals may process or store data in countries other than your own. Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, including contractual safeguards and equivalent protection measures.

9. Security

We take reasonable measures to help protect information about you from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.

10. Contact and Complaints

For privacy or child-safety questions, contact support@softwarefuturism.co.uk. If you are in the UK or EU/EEA, you may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
